The pot was sweetened for online poker players looking to make a difference on planet earth. A 2008 Aruba Poker Classic prize package was donated to the Kentucky Derby Poker Championship, a charity Texas Hold'em tournament created to raise the awareness of climate change and its impact on all communities, particularly those that are poor and underdeveloped.

The Kentucky Derby Poker Championship takes place at Caesars Indiana on Saturday, May 3rd at 8:30pm. Poker players can buy in to the tournament for $2,500.

The charities that will benefit from the tournament's proceeds include the international Red Cross / Red Crescent Climate Centre, the Health and Climate Foundation, and the Robby Albarado Foundation.

The second place finisher in the charity poker tournament will secure the $8,500 Aruba Poker Classic prize package featuring a Main Event seat and money for travel and accommodations. The 2008 Aruba Poker Classic takes place from September 27th through October 4th. With 750 players expected to descend on the island for the 2008 Aruba Poker Classic, the event is anticipating an estimated prize pool of over $4 million and a guaranteed first place prize of $1 million.

The Aruba prize package won't be the only world-class poker presence in the tournament. Phil Hellmuth, one of the top poker pros in the world, is slated to host the charity event.
